Hairballs & Hairbands is made possible only because of our amazing sponsors

At Paws in the City, statistics take a back seat to helping animals that are in dire need. Many animal rescue groups focus on purebreds, or even a specific breed, or on any number of myths regarding adoptability. That's not our style. We know too many families who couldn’t imagine life without their beloved “unadoptable” pet for us to believe that superficial rules of thumb are the key to adoptability. We know too many families that adore their mutt as much as their purebred to believe that heritage is the key to adoptability. The number one reason that most people get pets is companionship - and good companionship comes in all colors and sizes, in purebreds and mixed breeds. We won’t turn away a lovable animal in need because it’s not the chic color of the day or not the most popular size. If training will help a dog be a good companion, we’ll provide training and, just as importantly, a compatible foster home to acclimate the dog into a new lifestyle. At Paws, a good pet is a good pet, and we’ll do whatever is needed get them all adopted into loving homes.

Paws In The City’s Accomplishments:

  • Reducing the number of animals killed at the City of Dallas Animal Shelter by having them attend our offsite adoption events along with our foster animals AND pulling animals on death row from that city shelter.

  • Increasing the number of animals adopted every year

  • Offering the public a Guest Dog Program.  We help citizens who find strays or need to re-home a pet by posting them on our website and inviting them to attend our adoption events

  • Providing a Medical Assistance Fund which offers the public help with expensive surgeries or treatments that they could not afford on their own

  • Consistently raising substantial funds every year for spay/neuter to decrease the amount of animals born without homes

ADOPTION EVENTS are held throughout the Metroplex on Saturdays and Sundays.  To volunteer, foster or adopt, check our main website at www.pawsinthecity.org.
